OPERA DELLA LUNA, UK

Since its inception in 1994, Opera della Luna has established itself as  highly original ensemble of extremely versatile singers and comedians.  led by artistic director Jeff Clarke, it takes its name from Haydn's operatic setting of Goldoni's farce ll Mondo della Luna.

The company's policy is to create new and innovative productions of musical theatre, comic opera and operetta, in English, and to tour them to mid-scale venues in the UK.  The Company has wond considerable acclaim for its highly entertaining and inventive performing style.

Philadelphia Gilbert & Sullivan Union

The Philadelphia Gilbert & Sullivan Union, better known as PGSU or "Peggy Sue", was formed in 2007 to recruit talented performers from the Philadelphia area. 

PGSU performed Iolanthe in 2007 and The Pirates of Penzance in 2008, and is delighted to make its third appearance in 2010 with The Sorcerer.  Gettysburg is just a two hour car ride from Philadelphia, and the group expect to draw an audience of friends and family. 
"We are all excited to be part of this new venture in expanding the audience for Gilbert & Sullivan.  Philadlphia is a major hotbed of GS in America, with at least six companies devoted to the operettas, and we recruit from all of them to bring to this new audience the best of Philadelphia's talent and energy".



The Mikado

Yiddish Light Opera


The Gilbert & Sullivan Yiddish Light Opera Co has been performing GS in Yiddish for the past 25 years.  They have been seen throughout the US, Canada and London UK.  Their repertoire includes Pinafore, Mikado and Pirates.  Each last approximately one hour.  The shows are performed mostly with songs in Yiddish and dialog in English.  They perform with 15 to 18 people, fully cstumed with scenery and piano accompaniment.

Victorian Lyric Opera Company


VLOC was founded in 1978 to perform musical works of the Victorian era.  Their first show was Trial by Jury paired with Haddon Hall.  Since that time they have performed all but two of the Gilbert & Sullivan canon many times over.  They have also branched out into other European operettas and even grand opera, Mozart's Magic Flute & Donezetti's The Elixir of Love.  The mission of the company has been and continues to be to provide high quality performances of light operatic works, providing educational and performance opportunities to the local community.  Membership is drawn from all over the Greater Washington Metropolitan area.

Derby Gilbert & Sullivan Co, UK

Derby Gilbert & Sullivan Company has wone the Best Show and International Champion awards no less than six time out of twelve entries at the Buxton Festival.  The company have performed abroad in recent years including their festival winning Iolanthe in Seattle (2002) and Vancouver Island (2005).  Trips to the pestigious Waterford Festival in Ireland with Pinafore (2004) and Sorcerer (2005) resulted in the Company winning best G&S show.

The Ridgewood Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company


Ridgewood are a non-profit performing group, and have presented full productions of the works of Gilbert & Sullivan on a regular schedule since its founding in 1937 by Kay and Jack Edson.  For over 70 years they have delighted audiences with the timeless jollity of The Pirates of Penzance, The Mikado and HMS Pinafore.  As one of the oldest continuing musical theatre groups in the country, they also perform those G&S works that are seldom seen elsewhere including of course, this spring's production of The Grand Duke.  The group have brought endless pleasure to shut-ins by giving free shows for hospital patients, veterans, and residents of ld-age communities.  furthermore, to enhancce the cultural life of their community, they have donated a series of musical scores, recordings and books on G&S to the Ridgewood Public Library.

The Ardensingers

The Ardensingers is a group dedicated to performing Gilbert & Sullivan operettas in the Northern Delaware area.  The group's major production is generally in April-May.  In the fall, the organisation often has a small production and its orchestra has concerts through the year.  A Gilbert and Sullivan Christmas Carol is a well-loved story by Charles Dickens, equally well-loved music by Sir Arthur Sullivan and more than a sprinkling of W S Gilbert's words each contributing to a fascinating and refreshingly different entertainment.
